How to check a new frequency converter upon arrival?

2025-08-01

As a key device in industrial production and control, frequency converters need to undergo some necessary checks and tests before installation and use to ensure normal operation and safe use.

Application

The inspection steps of a frequency converter mainly include the following key links:

Inspection items for new frequency converters

1. Visual inspection

After opening the packaging, check whether the appearance of the frequency converter is damaged or deformed, whether the connection lines are loose, ensure that the frequency converter is clean without foreign substances or impurities, and clean the dust and dirt on the control circuit board.

2. Electrical part inspection

Open the cover to inspect the electrical components inside the frequency converter, mainly focusing on whether the capacitors have swollen, whether the circuit board has been burned out, whether the heat dissipation is normal, including whether the fan can work properly and whether the heat sink is blocked.

3. Control part inspection

Turn on the frequency converter and check if the buttons can be pressed and work properly, whether the display is functioning normally, and confirm if the parameter settings are correct, especially paying attention to the settings of voltage and frequency.

4. Power-on test

After all the above contents have been inspected without any problems, conduct the power-on test. First, perform a no-load test to check if the output voltage is normal. If the no-load test is successful, proceed to the full-load test to ensure that the frequency converter can operate stably under various loads.

In addition, some common faults of frequency converters, such as overcurrent, overvoltage, overheating, phase loss, undervoltage and grounding, can be detected by monitoring the voltage and current on the power side using a multimeter.

5. Prevention and Maintenance

After the frequency converter is put into normal use, regular inspections of the installation environment should be conducted to ensure appropriate temperature and humidity, prevent dust accumulation, and maintain the cooling system and electrical components. Timely detection of potential problems is necessary to ensure the equipment can operate stably for a long time.
