Recently, the 1MW permanent magnet shaft belt power generation system equipped with FGI FD5000 medium-voltage frequency converter was successfully loaded onto the vessel "LUCKY CARINA" and put into operation. On June 6, 2025, the system was officially integrated into the ship's power grid, achieving stable power supply and successfully passing the sea trial acceptance. During the sea trial, the technical team was stationed on board throughout to provide support, efficiently completing all sea trial projects and achieving a complete success!
The "LUCKY CARINA" is 291.97 meters long, 45 meters wide and has a deadweight tonnage (DWT) of 178,000 tons. The "LUCKY CARINA" has achieved energy efficiency improvement and optimized fuel consumption and emissions of the entire vessel by installing a 1MW "split axle clamping type" shaft engine system.

Inertial vector control
Without speed sensors, it reduces hardware costs and maintenance efforts, and minimizes failure points. It has higher reliability in harsh environments such as vibration, dust, and humidity, as well as in space-constrained scenarios. It maintains stable performance over a wide speed range.
Intelligent Parallel Parking Technology
Supports online hot parallel connection, supports manual/automatic grid connection mode, power distribution can be evenly divided or customized, and it can precisely match the required power with one click.
Dual PWM Conversion Technology
The power factor is adjustable, with THDU ≤ 5%. It supports a stable output range of 65% to 135% of the host speed, ensuring high-quality AC voltage on the inverter side and the efficient and safe operation of the equipment.
Intelligent Island Control
Supports islanding mode operation and has emergency protection. In the islanding mode, if the frequency converter fails, it will automatically start the diesel generator to connect to the grid and transfer the load, ensuring the continuity of power supply.
Intelligent Power Management
When the main engine slows down, the available power of the shaft drive system decreases. The system automatically disconnects non-critical loads (first/second level offloading equipment) to ensure the stable operation of the shaft generator system. When the ship slows down (SLOW DOWN), the intelligent system offloads unnecessary loads and prioritizes the guarantee of navigation safety.

The successful technical renovation of the "LUCKY CARINA" vessel has brought significant economic and environmental benefits. The energy efficiency of the vessel has increased by approximately 10%. During navigation, the vessel saves about 2 tons of fuel per day, resulting in an annual fuel saving economic benefit of over 1.8 million yuan. This has significantly reduced operating costs and enhanced the vessel's profitability. Moreover, the application of energy-saving technologies has further optimized the vessel's power system, extending the equipment's service life and effectively reducing maintenance costs.
