1. High-speed electric machine
High-speed motors typically refer to those with a rotational speed exceeding 10,000 rpm. Their core advantages lie in high power density (small size with high power) and low mechanical losses. Commonly used high-speed motors include induction motors (asynchronous motors), magnetic levitation high-speed motors, and air-suspended high-speed motors. By supporting the rotor without contact, they completely eliminate mechanical friction and are suitable for ultra-high-speed scenarios (such as 30,000 - 100,000 rpm).
Induction motor
The essence of achieving high-speed operation lies in the process of resisting "slippage". The control of slip rate is the core issue of high-speed operation. It needs to be realized through the coordinated efforts of electromagnetic optimization, mechanical reinforcement and intelligent control in different aspects to achieve high-speed operation.
Magnetic levitation high-speed motor
Using electromagnetic force to suspend the rotor in the stator magnetic field, achieving dynamic balance through radial bearings (for controlling the lateral position) and axial bearings (for controlling the longitudinal position), and having the position monitored in real time by sensors and adjusting the electromagnetic force accordingly.
Air-suspended high-speed motor
By forming an air film support in the gap between the rotor and the stator through high-pressure gas (air or inert gas), it is divided into two types: hydrodynamic bearings (self-generated pressure) and hydrostatic bearings (external gas supply).
2. FGI FD300 High-performance frequency converter
FGI, in response to the application requirements of high-speed motor industries such as air suspension and magnetic suspension, has specially developed the FD300 high-performance frequency converter. 4. Application case
A customer from Xiangtan, Hunan Province has a high-speed magnetic levitation motor.
The rated power of this motor is 100kW, the rated voltage is 380V, the rated current is 200A, the rated speed is 27,000 rpm, the number of poles is 2 pairs, the rated frequency is 900.0Hz. We have selected our FD330-132G-4-L02 high-speed driver for this motor. When operating at 900Hz with half load and a carrier frequency of 10.0kHz, the output current waveform is shown in the figure.
From the waveform of the comprehensive case test, it can be seen that:
The output current waveform of the FD300 high-performance inverter is stable, and the waveform is a standard sine wave. The current harmonics have also been detected to be less than 5%, which can effectively reduce the temperature rise of the motor and lower the failure rate of the motor.
